ELORA — The Elora Festival Singers are creating a stir of excitement in the region.

They have been invited to perform at New York City’s legendary Carnegie Hall on March 13.

The all-professional Grammy and Juno-nominated chamber choir was founded in 1980 and holds a reputation for being one of the finest chamber choirs in Canada.

This reputation landed them a performance in New York, but not before giving their local fans a sneak peak of this concert.

On March 8, under the helm of Noel Edison, the audience will be treated to choral works by Eric Whitacre, Stephen Chatman and Heally Willan, to name a few.

Composer Timothy Corlis also wrote a new piece for this special performance.

“The performance in New York is a great opportunity for a cultural exchange to take place with especially those concert-going coral enthusiasts,” said Esther Farrell, manager of the Elora Festival Singers.

“It’s very exciting and we hope that this will, in the future, allow for more performances throughout the United States,” Farrell said.

You can send the Festival Singers off with a huge applause on Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m., at St. John’s Church in Elora.
