HUGE congratulations to the Canadian Mennonite University Singers! – the premiere performance of “Psalm 46” was brilliant, a performance that achieved an ideal balance between technical precision and emotional intensity. Especially, I’d like to thank Rudy Schellenberg, Verna Wiebe, Tirzah Lyons, Breanna Heinrichs, and Dale Thiessen for supporting the performance both instrumentally and vocally. This worship service was a wonderful experience for me …and I had the opportunity to participate by playing a really BIG GONG.

– warm wishes and heartfelt thanks to each of you!

This piece was commissioned by Canadian Mennonite University for their annual conference entitled Worship & Imagination. One of the conference participants offered the following in the written evaluations:

“The premiere by Corlis was astounding–it grabbed me and didn’t let go.  The intensities of the harmonies and volume painted the picture of conflict, and the settling of sound at the end created a shining silence, more alive than a mere absence of sound.”

— David Kruse (Pastor, MacGregor Evangelical Mennonite Church)
